Vineyards in Spain Reach for High Elevations, Cool Nights and Memorable Tastes

pain's mountain ranges heavily influence winemaking largely because the country experiences extremely high temperatures (more than 100-degrees F) at lower elevations during the summer season. Thus, a vast number of Spanish winemakers plant vineyards at elevations of more than 2,000 feet above sea level; consequently, the winemakers reap the benefits of a large diurnal temperature variation with cool nights sustaining the acidity levels and coloring of grapes. While the most widely planted variety in Spain is the white grape Airen, the second most prevelant grape on the vine is a red-wine grape called Tempranillo.

Segura Viudas Wines
Segura Viudas became a brand in 1950 but it was not until 1969 that it began to market its wines, the quality of which stood out right from the beginning. The installations were later equipped with state-of-the-art technology to ensure per- fection of the process. The passage of time has been favorable to our company and the prestige of our brand has increased even more in recent years. It is difficult to find a wine producing firm that has acquired so much international recognition in such a short time.

Spanish Quarter
From bustling cities to small villages, the town square or plaza is the vibrant center of Spanish life. It’s where food, wine, laughter and music flow freely — and where anything serious is left for manana, or tomorrow. The Spanish Quarter Wines capture this lively spirit by combining native Spanish grapes with international varietals — resulting in blends that are both exotic, yet familiar.
